An Oak Tree – 20th Anniversary at The Young Vic

One of the most influential new plays of the 21st century returns for a limited time only.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary we are thrilled to be bringing Tim Crouch’s landmark production An Oak Tree to the Young Vic from 06th- 17th May.

A father loses his daughter in a car accident. The driver of the car that killed her is a stage hypnotist. The two men meet for the first time when the father volunteers for the hypontist’s act. What follows is a live theatrical experience like no other – a bold and absurdly comic story of loss, suggestion and the power of the mind.

At each performance, Tim Crouch will be joined by a different guest artist, who will have neither seen nor read a single work of the play – until they’re in it. Guest artists will be revealed to audiences live on the night, the first of the Young Vic line-up to include Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (Gangs of London), Michelle Terry (Tribes), Luke Thompson (Bridgerton), Russell Tovey (Doctor Who) and Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), with more exciting names to be announced.

Since 2005, Tim has performed the play globally sharing the stage with performers including Frances McDormand, Geoffrey Rush, Sharon D Clarke, Alanis Morrisette, Sophie Okonedo, Peter Dinklage and Laurie Anderson.
